Camp Squanto Alumni Association

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Camp Squanto Alumni Association (CSAA), as part of the Mayflower Council, is to establish a social and professional network for past and current staff, campers, unit leaders, supporters and friends from all areas of the council, state and country to support current camp staff, assist camp and council leadership with capital projects and programs at the LeBaron R. Barker Scout Reservation home of Camp Squanto.

MEMBERSHIP

With your membership in our organization, you will again become part of the extended Camp Squanto family. The CSAA will produce a contact list of its members, have the opportunity to reconnect with old friends at group events, meet with new staff and help pass the torch, and bring together photos, films, and other camp memories to help preserve Squanto’s history. Since one of the goals of the organization is to help with capital improvement at Camp Squanto, we are requesting a small yearly donation for all members. We have several membership levels available: levels are $25, $50, and $100. The Arnie Briggs Lifetime Membership remains at $500.00 We now have 55 Lifetime Members. All registration money collected will be applied directly to the improvement of Camp Squanto and the operational costs of the CSAA. The Camp Squanto Alumni Association is hoping that you will continue to support Camp Squanto and begin or renew your membership for this year. Your support will help bring the association’s 2021 projected camp projects to fulfillment. The CSAA gave $40,000 to help build the Casoni Museum. Each year the CSAA supports the camp by funding, to staff the museum in the summer, utilities, staff scholarships, and purchases of camp program equipment. Each summer the association works with the camp director to help with specific needs in program areas. Please consider becoming part of this special Squanto community. If you know of someone who might be interested, please let them know as well. We look forward to hearing from you! If you have any questions, please contact us at Elliott Glass, President of the CSAA or Peter Glass, Curator of the Casoni Museum.

THE CASONI MUSEUM

The Casoni Museum is the only scouting museum in New England, and one of the only in the country, that is a member of the American Alliance of Museums. It is also the only Scouting Museum in New England integrated into a camp program. The mission of the Casoni Museum is to preserve the Scouting heritage of the legacy Old Colony and Mayflower Council and inspire youth about Scouting traditions and values through an interactive and educational structure. The museum will collect, preserve, and display Scouting artifacts and publications; conduct research, provide educational materials and events; and educate, enrich, and inspire youth and the general public with the ideals represented by the Scouting movement. If you have any questions, or would like to donate Scouting memorabilia please contact Peter Glass, Curator.  Click here to email the museum.
