Youth Protection Training (live version)

Loading Events

Please join us for a live version of the official BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT). This course is an approved substitute for the online version that the Boy Scouts of America released in February 2018.

WHAT IT COVERS: This course will help you understand how to create and maintain a safe environment for youth; how to recognize, respond to, and report the different kinds of abuse that youth are likely to experience; and how to use Scouting’s “Barriers to Abuse” to protect youth. This training covers exactly the same material as the online version, including slides and videos, while also providing an opportunity for questions and discussion. Each participant must pass a test at the end to earn credit for the course. Altogether, the training and the test will take about an hour and a half.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This training is for all adult leaders (age 18+) in all BSA programs. Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing leaders all take the same YPT now. It is the national policy of the BSA that all registered leaders are required to take this training (either the online version or the live version) during 2018. Parents who are not registered with the BSA are also encouraged to take this training.

Walk-ins are welcome, but we’d appreciate pre-registration so we can get an approximate headcount for supplies and so we can notify you if there are any last-minute details you need to know.

Registration Deadline:  June 4, 2018
