SUMMARY:Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS)
DESCRIPTION:This event has been cancelled.\nYou are invited to participate in the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills course; a fun-filled program of hands-on outdoor skills training in the basic skills boys are required to learn to advance from Tenderfoot to First Class. This is a fun hands-on course where you learn by doing while experiencing the EDGE training method. \nInstructors will help you learn camp setup\, working with woods tools\, knots and lashings\, campfire program planning\, map reading\, compass use\, hiking and backpacking techniques\, nature identification and outdoor ethics. Each session will bring the Boy Scout Handbook to life to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to the youth you serve. Your comfort as a leader will increase as you become more confident because of the new knowledge and skills you acquire. You will work with other Scout leaders\, meet new friends and have a great time! \nA required pre-course meeting is on Wednesday\, 9/20/17 from 7 PM to 9 PM\, at Henderson Cabin at Nobscot Scout Reservation. \nNOTE: The Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills training course is required for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to be considered trained. \nPre-meeting: 9/20/17\, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM \nFriday start:  9/29/17\, 6:00 PM \nSaturday end:  9/30/17\, 6:00 PM \nRegistration deadline: 9/20/17 \nLate registration at the discretion of the course director. \n  \nFee: Free (in-council / $30.00 out-of-council)
