SUMMARY:Wood Badge 2018
DESCRIPTION:Wood Badge is an advanced\, national leadership course open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals.  Wood Badge is geared towards leadership development encompassing all BSA programs. \nThe course will be held over 2 weekends.  The first weekend is a 3-day weekend and the second is a 2-day weekend and covers all elements of leadership. \nWhat is special about this particular course?  This course will be a Pilot for the new Centennial Wood Badge program. \nCourse dates: \nWeekend One:  September 15th – September 17th at Camp Squanto \nWeekend Two:  October 27th – October 28th at Camp Squanto \nWho should take Wood Badge?  All leaders should take this course\, including committee members\, district/council committee members\, unit commissioners and scouting professionals. \nWhen should leaders take it? \nLeaders should take this course as soon as they are “fully trained”. Isn’t it better to have a skill BEFORE you need it rather than AFTER you need it? \nWhy do you want to go? \n\nThe primary purpose of the Wood Badge experience is simple—to strengthen Scouting in our units\, districts\, and council.  Every Scout deserves a well‐trained leader.\nIt provides dedicated Scouters with the concepts\, tools\, and methods needed to be effective leaders.\nWood Badge creates a structured opportunity to develop and apply critical leadership skills.  Leadership is a skill that is used everywhere\, on a daily basis.\nAttending Wood Badge will make your Scouting job easier. Attendees gain an in‐depth understanding of the skills of leadership.  The skills you learn will help you become a more effective leader in Scouting\, your career\, your family\, and your community life.\n\nWhy attend THIS Pilot course?. \n\nAside from Philmont and Sea base\, you will be the first in the BSA to experience the most significant curriculum update since 2002. The actual Centennial curriculum will not be rolled out nationally until 2020 for all other courses!\nShape the future! Participate and provide feedback on the updated material and directly impact those who will attend Wood Badge in coming years\nHelp the BSA kick off the Centennial Wood Badge experience\n\n  \nRegister and pay in full by April 30\, 2018 for a course incentive.   \nRegistration deadline is:  July 31\, 2018 \n  \n** Must Register and attend Weekend One**
