Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

In an abundance of caution, we will be canceling the Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation(BALOO), that is scheduled for April 25-26 because this event brings a large number of Scouters together. As might be expected with such a fluid set of circumstances, we cannot give you a definitive date when or if the training will be rescheduled. We will be issuing full refunds to everyone by the end of the month.

Registration deadline: April 21

BALOO is a fun and exciting training experience for all Cub Scout leaders. When your pack goes camping, at least one leader at the event must be BALOO-trained. By completing this course you will: understand the focus of the Cub Scout level of the BSA camping program; acquire the skills and confidence necessary to plan and carry out a successful, first-time Cub Scout-level camping activity; learn about resources available to help; and understand the requirements for safe BSA outdoor activities, based on national standards. This overnight training will allow you to learn and practice basic camping skills, equipment, fires and outdoor cooking, knife safety, knots, program planning, health and safety considerations, and other outdoor skills that are central to the Cub Scout outdoor program.

This version of the course will start on Saturday morning. We will have you on your way home by noon on Sunday.

Cost: Free to adult leaders registered with packs in Mayflower Council (the annual activity fee on Scout registrations in our council helps to cover the cost of providing leader training). $30 for out-of-council members.
